Job Description
Lone Tree Brewing Company (“LTBC”) in Lone Tree, CO is hiring for a full-time Assistant Brewer. We operate a 20-bbl JV Northwest brewhouse at our Main production facility in Lone Tree, CO and a 7‑bbl brewhouse at our recently acquired Parker, CO Brewery and Taproom. LTBC has been in operation since 2011 and our goal for total production in 2025 is approx. 4,500 barrels. We currently distribute throughout Colorado and Kansas and currently have approximately 6,000 barrels of fermentation capacity. The position is 40 hr/week, paid hourly and would commence immediately upon completion of the interview process. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, passionate about quality, experimentation and utilizing brewing relationships in the community. This position reports to the Director of Brewing Operations (DBO) and will be working closely with a small group of brewhouse employees. Areas of strength would include technical knowledge and process repeatability across a broad range of lager styles, newer-age hoppy styles and high-gravity beers.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- All cellaring skills such as transferring, filtering, tank cleaning/passivation, etc.
- Wort Production and full working knowledge of all brewing/packaging chain
- Mastering brewhouse-specific techniques on 20-bbl main brewhouse, 7‑bbl pilot brewhouse and occasionally working on nano-batch brewhouse experiments
- Coordination of Supply Chain Ordering Process with DBO
- Yeast Management and lab experience preferred (conducting cell counts, etc)
- Adapting and refining control processes based on in-house and outsourced lab results
- Maintaining Quality Control program in conjunction with Packaging Manager
- General brewery maintenance
- Working with DBO on existing and future hop contracts and base malt contracts
- Recipe Development and Competition Entry duties
- Maintaining all OSHA and In-house standards to keep a safe work environment
- Operation of a forklift
- Maintaining a valid driver’s license and operation of our 16-ft box truck
- Participate in the occasional beer festival or brewery events
- Capability to stand for eight + hours
- Adherence to all company policies and attendance for all staff meetings
Qualifications & skills required
- Preference for at least two years of experience in professional brewing, or a combination of lab experience and brewing experience
- Candidates must be serious about safety, quality, cleanliness and willingness to meet the physical labor requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds over your head, be able to twist and turn repeatedly, be able to reach over their shoulders, and work in a standing, walking, or crouching position at a steady pace
- Regularly move 175 lbs
- Available to work days (typically 8:00am – 4:00pm or as early as 5:00am for early brew shifts, weekends, and some nights (very rare, as we are not a 24/7 production brewery)
- Brewing degree from a recognized brewing school is ideal and previous experience working in a brewhouse as a full-time brewer is preferred
