Job Description

Lone Tree Brew­ing Com­pa­ny (“LTBC”) in Lone Tree, CO is hir­ing for a full-time Assis­tant Brew­er. We oper­ate a 20-bbl JV North­west brew­house at our Main pro­duc­tion facil­i­ty in Lone Tree, CO and a 7‑bbl brew­house at our recent­ly acquired Park­er, CO Brew­ery and Tap­room. LTBC has been in oper­a­tion since 2011 and our goal for total pro­duc­tion in 2025 is approx. 4,500 bar­rels. We cur­rent­ly dis­trib­ute through­out Col­orado and Kansas and cur­rent­ly have approx­i­mate­ly 6,000 bar­rels of fer­men­ta­tion capac­i­ty. The posi­tion is 40 hr/week, paid hourly and would com­mence imme­di­ate­ly upon com­ple­tion of the inter­view process. The ide­al can­di­date will be mechan­i­cal­ly inclined, pas­sion­ate about qual­i­ty, exper­i­men­ta­tion and uti­liz­ing brew­ing rela­tion­ships in the com­mu­ni­ty. This posi­tion reports to the Direc­tor of Brew­ing Oper­a­tions (DBO) and will be work­ing close­ly with a small group of brew­house employ­ees. Areas of strength would include tech­ni­cal knowl­edge and process repeata­bil­i­ty across a broad range of lager styles, new­er-age hop­py styles and high-grav­i­ty beers.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • All cel­lar­ing skills such as trans­fer­ring, fil­ter­ing, tank cleaning/passivation, etc.
  • Wort Pro­duc­tion and full work­ing knowl­edge of all brewing/packaging chain
  • Mas­ter­ing brew­house-spe­cif­ic tech­niques on 20-bbl main brew­house, 7‑bbl pilot brew­house and occa­sion­al­ly work­ing on nano-batch brew­house experiments
  • Coor­di­na­tion of Sup­ply Chain Order­ing Process with DBO
  • Yeast Man­age­ment and lab expe­ri­ence pre­ferred (con­duct­ing cell counts, etc)
  • Adapt­ing and refin­ing con­trol process­es based on in-house and out­sourced lab results
  • Main­tain­ing Qual­i­ty Con­trol pro­gram in con­junc­tion with Pack­ag­ing Manager
  • Gen­er­al brew­ery maintenance
  • Work­ing with DBO on exist­ing and future hop con­tracts and base malt contracts
  • Recipe Devel­op­ment and Com­pe­ti­tion Entry duties
  • Main­tain­ing all OSHA and In-house stan­dards to keep a safe work environment
  • Oper­a­tion of a forklift
  • Main­tain­ing a valid driver’s license and oper­a­tion of our 16-ft box truck
  • Par­tic­i­pate in the occa­sion­al beer fes­ti­val or brew­ery events
  • Capa­bil­i­ty to stand for eight + hours
  • Adher­ence to all com­pa­ny poli­cies and atten­dance for all staff meetings

Qualifications & skills required

  • Pref­er­ence for at least two years of expe­ri­ence in pro­fes­sion­al brew­ing, or a com­bi­na­tion of lab expe­ri­ence and brew­ing experience
  • Can­di­dates must be seri­ous about safe­ty, qual­i­ty, clean­li­ness and will­ing­ness to meet the phys­i­cal labor requirements
  • Abil­i­ty to lift up to 60 pounds over your head, be able to twist and turn repeat­ed­ly, be able to reach over their shoul­ders, and work in a stand­ing, walk­ing, or crouch­ing posi­tion at a steady pace
  • Reg­u­lar­ly move 175 lbs
  • Avail­able to work days (typ­i­cal­ly 8:00am – 4:00pm or as ear­ly as 5:00am for ear­ly brew shifts, week­ends, and some nights (very rare, as we are not a 24/7 pro­duc­tion brewery)
  • Brew­ing degree from a rec­og­nized brew­ing school is ide­al and pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence work­ing in a brew­house as a full-time brew­er is preferred
